Advancing pressure injury monitoring and prevention.
Explore our work in patient data, predictive modeling, and monitoring interfaces, along with the clinical workflows we are investigating.
The focus
Understanding and anticipating pressure injury risk
Pressure injuries are a serious concern in care settings. PIMAP is a research effort exploring how patient data, predictive modeling, and well-designed monitoring interfaces might help clinicians anticipate and act on risk earlier.
Our work spans three connected areas: preparing and organizing clinical research data, experimenting with predictive models, and designing interfaces and workflows that could make risk information usable. We write for clinicians, researchers, engineers, and institutional partners alike.
Foundational framework
Store, analyze, visualize
The foundational PIMAP research frames patient monitoring as a repeating cycle — while remaining clear about what today's work actually demonstrates versus what the framework envisions.
Roadmap
Now, Next, Exploring
Where our attention is today and where it may go. These are research directions and may change.
Now
- Review data preparation and observation windows
- Reconcile model runs and evaluation outputs
- Improve the monitoring prototype
Next
- Establish a reproducible evaluation protocol
- Gather clinician feedback
- Document the research platform architecture

PIMAP: A System Framework For Patient Monitoring
Samuel Mansfield · 2021
The foundational dissertation that defines the PIMAP system framework. It organizes patient monitoring work around a repeating cycle of storing data, analyzing it, and visualizing results, and it motivates applying that cycle to pressure injury monitoring.
